JARC Member Spotlight

A little bit about...

Brook Atkinson

1.                  How did you get involved with JARC?

I graduated high school with Jennifer Vancor.  A couple years ago, she had started selling insurance for the same company as my husband.  So, I’d run into her at company functions.  One night, we were having dinner with a large group.  Jennifer kept talking about JA (and me not knowing about JA - I kept thinking of the school, but I knew that Anna was way too young at the time).  Jennifer did inform me later of the JA that she was talking about.  She kept saying that I’d enjoy it and that I should join.  So, it’s all because of Jennifer and her love for JA that I got involved.

2.                How long have you been involved with JARC?

I’ve just started my 2nd year as an Active member.  So, I’d say a little over 2 years – counting my Provisional year.

3.                What Projects have you been involved with?

As a Provisional, we did a project with the Center for Violence Prevention – we painted the kids’ playroom.  It was a lot of fun.

My projects for this year (and last year) are Caring Friends, Crown Club, and Hudspeth.

4.                Do you have a favorite Project and why?

No, I really don’t have a favorite.  I have enjoyed all of them.  They each have an impact of our community in one way or another.

5.                What do you do besides JARC?

When not at work for Cellular South, my time is divided up between my family, church activities, and some free time.  My time at home is spent with my husband Jason and our two dogs - Sophie and Brady.  We are members of Pinelake Church, and our small group meets at our home in Cornerstone.  In our free time, we enjoy boating, traveling, and spending time with our family and friends.
